I GOT A REAL BUZZ THE FIRST TIME I WENT OUTDOOR SKETCHING
My love of art started at an early age when birthday and Christmas presents almost always consisted of colouring books, drawing pads, crayons, pens and pencils.

Later, at school, I was able to study Art and History of Art. Those were the lessons I most looked forward to, along with Geography because I got to draw lots of maps.

On leaving school I would have loved to have gone onto Art College but financial pressures prevailed and I went straight out to work. I didn’t then start drawing again until I had taken early retirement and moved to the South Coast in 2012.

East Sussex is a beautiful county, steeped in history, and we have no shortage of places to go to inspire us in our artistic endeavours. I got a real buzz the first time I went outdoor sketching, near Eastbourne Pier. I found it totally exhilarating.

My favourite medium is pen & ink.
